Jerry Ogutu Sumba is an emerging economist with a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Embu, where he also completed his Bachelor’s degree with First Class Honors. With a solid foundation in economics, he has gained practical experience through internships at Kenya Commercial Bank and the University Finance Department. Currently, he serves as a Teaching Assistant in the School of Business and Economics at the University of Embu. Jerry is recognized for his leadership skills, having held positions such as Chairman of the Business Students Association and Treasurer of the University of Embu Students Association. His research focuses on macroeconomic stability and fiscal policy in sub-Saharan Africa, with several publications to his name. Jerry Ogutu Sumba completed his secondary education at Nyakhobi Secondary School (2012-2015), earning a B (plain). He pursued his Bachelor’s degree in Economics at the University of Embu, graduating with First Class Honors in December 2020. Currently, he is completing his Master’s degree in Economics at the same institution (2021-2024).

šŸ¢ Work Experience

Jerry began his professional journey as an intern in the Credits Department at Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) from May to September 2019. He then interned in the University Finance Department from February to June 2021. Subsequently, he served as a Graduate Assistant in the Finance Department from July 2021 to August 2024. Currently, he is a Teaching Assistant at the University of Embu’s School of Business and Economics (September 2024 – present).

He is also the current Treasurer of the University of Embu Staff Welfare Association (UESWA) since February 2022.

Jerry is actively involved in student leadership and has participated in various workshops and trainings, including UESA leaders induction training and Government Investments Management Information System (GIMIS) training in 2023.
