Dr. Hyobin Lee | Fishery Immunology | Excellence in Research Award
Mokpo National University | South Korea
Hyobin Lee is a post-doctoral researcher in aquaculture physiology and bioinformatics at the Smart AquaFarm Convergence Research Institute, Mokpo National University, where she contributes to advanced research supporting sustainable fish farming and disease-resilient aquaculture systems. She holds academic qualifications in aquaculture, fisheries biology, and marine fisheries resource science, building a strong foundation in fish physiology and applied biotechnology. Her professional experience includes extensive laboratory and field research in flatfish physiology, parasite–host interactions, stress responses, and reproductive biotechnology, complemented by research roles at KRIBB and the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency, along with collaborations with commercial aquaculture farms. Her research interests integrate fish stress physiology, disease diagnostics, multi-omics-based biomarker discovery, intestinal immunology, and sperm cryopreservation, targeting both scientific advancement and industry application. She is proficient in RNA-seq, KEGG analysis, bioinformatics pipelines, qRT-PCR, eDNA monitoring, histopathology, and cryopreservation techniques, enabling precise investigation of immune pathways and fish health indicators. She has received notable honors, including national recognition such as the Young Scientist Award from the Korean Society of Fisheries and Aquatic Science, reflecting her impactful contributions to sustainable aquaculture. In summary, her work advances mechanistic understanding of fish immune responses and disease management while supporting innovative, technology-driven aquaculture practices that enhance fish welfare, productivity, and global food security.
