Mrs. Juliette Restier–Verlet | radiobiology | Young Scientist AwardĀ
PhD student at Ā National Institute of Health and Medical Research , France
š Education
š¢ Work Experience
Juliette has gained significant experience through various internships and research projects. During her Masterās degree, she worked at INSERM U1296, where she studied the individual responses to cosmic radiation and the mechanisms behind ATM protein transit within cells under the guidance of Dr. N. Foray. Earlier, she completed an observation internship at the Stem Cell and Brain Research Institute, Lyon, under Dr. H. Kennedy, where she gained insights into brain connectomics and cortical area interactions. Her work experience has been diverse, blending space radiobiology and neuroscience.
š§¬ Skills
Julietteās skill set is robust and interdisciplinary, with expertise in radiobiology, cell biology, and oncology. She is proficient in using irradiation devices and has a strong foundation in scientific communication, both written and oral. Her leadership abilities have been honed through her involvement in various group projects and her experience in managing scientific research, making her a well-rounded researcher equipped with both technical and soft skills.
Awards and Honors š
Julietteās innovative thinking was recognized when she earned 2nd place in the Precision Oncology School competition in 2020 for her project on personalized medicine for breast cancer. She also participated in the Business Creation Competition organized by BEELYS from September 2019 to May 2020, where her team created a fictitious company named “Aromakit.” These experiences showcase her entrepreneurial spirit and her ability to apply scientific knowledge to real-world problems.
Membership š¤
Throughout her academic journey, Juliette has actively participated in multiple scientific workshops and schools. She attended the Radiation Summer School organized by ESA and GSI in Darmstadt, Germany, where she deepened her understanding of space radiation. Additionally, she participated in INOVALO 360, a winter school on innovation and valorization at UniversitƩ Grenoble Alpes, where she gained insights into innovation processes and intellectual property protection.
Teaching Experience š
Juliette has contributed to scientific education and communication through various presentations. She has presented her research at key events such as BARCamp at UniversitƩ Lyon I and the HEMERA Workshop in Rome, where she discussed her work on stratospheric balloon experiments. Her involvement in public science communication is also evident from her participation in the Science Festival at UniversitƩ Lyon I, where she helped create educational content about space radiation for the general public.
