Prof. Sos Agaian has had an extensive and impactful career spanning academia, industry, and research. He is currently a Distinguished Professor at the College of Staten Island and the Graduate Center, CUNY, and also serves as a researcher at the Open Cloud Institute. He has held leadership positions, including Director of the Multimedia Analytics & Mobile Signal Processing Laboratory at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and Professor at Yerevan State University in Armenia. Prof. Agaian has also served as a visiting professor at several renowned institutions worldwide, including Tufts University and Tampere International Center for Signal Processing in Finland. Throughout his career, Prof. Agaian has held pivotal roles in various scientific and research organizations, contributing significantly to computational vision, machine learning, and multimedia analytics. He has led numerous projects, earned multiple U.S. patents, and been recognized with prestigious awards, including being named a Fellow of the AAAS and the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association. Prof. Sos Agaian has received numerous prestigious awards in recognition of his outstanding contributions to science, technology, and education. Notably, he has been named among the Top 2% of Scientists Worldwide by Stanford University for several consecutive years, including 2023, 2024, and previous years, reflecting the high impact of his scholarly work. He is also a Fellow of the Artificial Intelligence Industry Academy (AIIA), a member of Academia Europaea, and a Fellow of the Armenian Society of Fellows. His excellence is further acknowledged through accolades such as the Life Career Award from the Armenian Engineers and Scientists of America, SPIE Community Champion Award (2020), and being honored as a Distinguished Lecturer by the IEEE SMC Society (2022–2020). In 2018, Prof. Agaian received recognition for his significant career accomplishments from the Armenian Engineers and Scientists of America.
